RED LIGHT THERAPY

Support your body’s natural healing with Red Light Therapy, non-invasive treatment that harnesses targeted wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to enhance cellular energy and promote overall wellbeing. At Merse Wellness Spa, this treatment is designed to help you recover, rejuvenate and restore balance from the inside out.

What is Red Light Therapy?

Red Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light that penetrates deep into the skin and tissues. These wavelengths are absorbed by cells and help stimulate the body’s natural processes for repair, recovery and regeneration.

Benefits of Red Light Therapy

Muscle Recovery

Speeds up tissue repair and reduces muscle soreness after exercise.

Improved Circulation

Increases blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues for better overall health.

Reduces Inflammation

Modulates inflammatory responses to ease pain and support healing.

Collagen Production

Promotes skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

The Science Behind It

When red and near-infrared light reaches your cells, it interacts with the mitochondria, the energy producing “powerhouses” inside each cell. This interaction boosts the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy your cells use to function, repair and regenerate.

This increase in cellular energy can help improve circulation, reduce inflammation and support tissue repair. It also encourages processes like collagen production, which contributes to healthier, more radiant skin.

Step into your Body Sculpting session feeling informed, confident and ready to contour

During your Red Light Therapy session, your body is gently bathed in red and near-infrared light that penetrates deep into the skin and tissues. This light stimulates your cells to produce more energy (ATP), helping to accelerate muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and promote skin rejuvenation through increased collagen production. While you relax in our serene treatment space, your body naturally begins to repair and restore itself, leaving you feeling refreshed, rebalanced, and revitalised.

The number of sessions needed depends on your specific goal. Many people begin to notice subtle improvements, like reduced soreness or a sense of relaxation within one to two sessions. More noticeable outcomes, such as improved skin tone or long term pain relief, typically appear after consistent use over a few weeks. For example, aesthetic results may become visible after three to four sessions, while full benefits for skin or pain concerns can be achieved within 6 - 8 weeks.

At Merse Wellness Spa, we use a combination of red light (typically around 650-670 nanometers) and near-infrared light (approximately 850 nanometers), depending on the targeted outcome. Red light is best for surface-level concerns like skin health and collagen stimulation, while infrared light penetrates deeper into the body to support muscle recovery, pain relief, and inflammation reduction.

The ideal frequency depends on your treatment goal, but most plans begin with multiple sessions per week for a few weeks, followed by ongoing maintenance. For example, clients focused on skin rejuvenation may benefit from two to three sessions per week for eight weeks, while those focused on muscle recovery or pain relief might start with three to five sessions weekly for four to six weeks. After this initial phase, one to two maintenance sessions per week can help sustain results.
